For five decades, worship leaders across the country have been sharing resources through Gathering, so we’re celebrating by giving five contributors a free one-year subscription to GatheringWorship.ca (print and online). That’s one for every decade that Gathering has been enriching worship across Canada and in countries around the world.

Each person or community of faith who submitted a contribution to Gathering between October 31, 2023 and January 31, 2024 was eligible.

The five recipients, who were randomly selected, are:

  • Joanne Purchase (Huntsville, Ont.), St. Paul’s U.C., Midland, Ont.
  • Donna Sinclair & Kimberly Robinson Nelles, St. Andrews in North Bay, Ont.
  • Knox United Church, Fort Frances, Ont
  • Monica Rosborough, Athabasca U.C., Athabasca, Alta.
  • Gord Dunbar, Kincardine P.C., Kincardine, Ont.

Congratulations and thank you to each of you!

And thank you to everyone else who contributed content to Gathering during the last four months. Your contributions make Gathering what it is.

We count on worship leaders to submit content to Gathering! Please do so today. It can be an idea for worship, a prayer, words and/or music for a hymn, a full service, or an artistic or movement idea. If you are submitting several pieces, you can put them all in one Word document and send them all together, either through the Submit Content to Gathering button at the bottom the website's homepage or to @email. We’ll do the editing. Just send along your worship material!

We try to use everything you send in some way. Sometimes we save it for future issues. Sometimes we use it right away in the issue we are creating. In our editing, according to the United Church style and theology guide, we seek to remain faithful to what you have offered. Always, we value what you have sent to us. We know it comes from the heart of your congregation’s worship life and from the love, energy, and time you put into creating it. We can’t create Gathering without you! The more you send us, the better.

Gathering is the pulse of United Church of Canada worship practice and theology. It is grassroots; a variety of voices, a connection with colleagues, a reflection of the changes and evolution in worship, and an opportunity for sharing wisdom and teaching about worship practice.

Celebrating 50 years!
