Folks Came from Jerusalem: A Candle-Lighting Prayer

Folks came from Jerusalem, came out to meet Jesus, when rumours spoke of his arrival. A donkey was found, as he directed, for Jesus to ride as he entered the city. Cloaks were thrown over the animal. People marked their celebrating by waving palm branches and saluting Jesus as king, calling on him to save them with their hosannas. Jesus was the light that fitted their needs.

This morning, we light this Christ candle as we welcome Jesus. We call to Jesus as the light in our lives, a light defined by his life, death, and resurrection.
