What's New: Throughout These Lenten Days
Lenten Greetings,
I remember someone once telling me (or perhaps I read it) that intentionally saying no to something was a purposeful way of saying yes to something else. In these Lenten days, many of us will chose to say no to particular habits, indulgences, practices, or even words so that we can purposefully make space for the Divine. I pray that these Lenten days draw you closer to the Holy, especially as you plan and lead worship.
As always, Gathering Worship is here to support you in your worship planning and leadership. In case you missed it, here are some resources for the Lenten journey:
Read our exploring section on Confession for reflections, conversation, and prayers about confession.
We have provided a PDF of the complete weekly services for Lent and Easter (we are in Year C); to search for a specific service, such as the weekly service for March 9, select Weekly Services under Category and enter the liturgical date. The complete Lent-Easter Prayers for Worship are also available.
"Two Sons (How Could I Be So Misguided)" is a hymn text on the prodigal son that can be sung to EBENEZER.
"Be" is a musical invitation based on Psalm 46:10 to “be still and know.”
Explore the Services and Rituals section to find gems like The Fruits of the Spirit Lenten Series.
Musicians across the United Church compiled a list Affirming hymns for LGBTQIA+ and Two-Spirit communities found in in More Voices and Voices United to be used in an Affirming context.
And lastly, we've discovered a resource for some for hymns for Handbells or Handchimes for Lent and Holy Week.
Many blessings to you in your worship leadership and planning. May your time in preparation and leadership provide intentional spaces for us all to boldly say yes to God’s divine invitation.
Sincerely,
Alydia
